Here are seven skills to assist you in your journey of waking up. They are daily practices and can be adjusted to suit you. I compiled them over many years while researching and writing my book, “Wake the F Up.” You can remember the skills with this acronym: SAGE ACT.

Definitions:

Consciousness: is a state connection with all that is. It is a sense of being fully alive and in the flow of life.

Waking up: is the process of becoming conscious - by removing barriers and programming and practicing skills of “being.”

Skill 1. Stillness

In stillness you can access the luminous realm and tap the unified field for wisdom.

  • Sit, stand or lie in stillness and silence

  • Breath naturally and be aware of your breath

  • Meditate – empty your mind (allow thoughts and feelings to come and go)

  • Stay in the present moment (not past or future)

Skill 2. Awareness (mindfulness)

When you are aware you are able to receive and embrace all that life provides to you.

  • Sense your body and your five senses

  • Pay attention to the inside of your body (e.g. heart, lungs, gut, energy)

  • Observe what is outside of you (e.g. people, things, activities etc)

  • Use your intuition to detect images, sensations and deeper knowing

Skill 3. Gratitude and generosity

With an attitude of gratitude you allow and attract all that you desire.

  • Be thankful for everything and everyone

  • Feel abundant and supplied (e.g. there is enough for everyone)

  • Feel that you are enough

  • Give and receive naturally (e.g. love, energy, your gifts, etc.)

Skill 4. Enthusiasm (and attunement)

We were designed to live fully and use our bodies to awaken.

  • Be alert, enthusiastic and open to possibilities

  • Feel sensual, curious and creative (with no expectations of outcomes)

  • Eat, drink and breathe in a healthy way

  • Attune with the universe, nature and sentient beings

  • Visualize and imagine possibilities

Skill 5. Acceptance (non-resistance)

When we accept all that is happening to us, we live a life of ease and flow.

  • Allow things to unfold in your life without resistance

  • Accept and embrace all that happens (say YES to all people and events)

  • Flow with life-energy and vibrations (e.g. cycles)

  • See everything as neutral (not good or bad)

Skill 6. Compassion and love

We are here as humans only to give and receive love.

  • Maintain an open mind and open heart (allow yourself to be vulnerable)

  • Forgive everyone as if they did nothing “wrong”

  • Be gentle with yourself, show self-compassion and self-forgiveness.

  • Love others without judging

  • Listen to your deep longings and desires

Skill 7. Trust Life

Our lives flow when we trust that life provides all we need

  • Trust life to unfold; everything shows up in perfect time (divine order)

  • Trust that life/source provides all you need

  • Sense that you are safe and taken care of

  • Surrender to the energy flow of life (do not resist)

Stay tuned.

In my next entries I talk about:

  • What are the barriers to waking up?

  • What is the ego?

  • How to transcend the ego.

Thank you for joining me.
